Your October 2024 Horoscope Is Here: Every Star Sign’s Forecast For Romance, Career And Life
As we settle into the cosy days and nights of autumn (yes, somehow we have already arrived into Q3), it may be easy to assume that the heavy emotional lifting of 2024 is behind us. We’re heading into the loveliest and arguably most charmed time of the year, aren’t we?
Not so fast. If October’s horoscope is anything to go by, we might not be out of the woods just yet. This month brings Scorpio season, and with it yet another eclipse, and an important shift from the transformative planet Pluto.
October’s shenanigans will begin on October 2 when a Libra new moon coincides with a solar eclipse. While September’s eclipse was a lunar, and coincided with a full moon (which may have resulted in a sense of doors closing in your life), October’s is solar, which lines up with the new moon. In short, that means that this month will lead to other doors, doors that perhaps you didn’t know could open for you, beckoning you through. When one closes, another opens, and this October is proof of that.
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Your relationships might come under strain this month, dear Aries, but fear not – it won’t last forever (nothing ever does.) The new moon and solar eclipse in Libra, which both kick off on October 2, have the potential to wreak havoc on your unions with those closest to you so beware. Not long after that, Jupiter, the planet of expansion, will go into retrograde in your arena of communication, your third house, which will probe you to reevaluate how you’re communicating with those closest to you.
It might seem difficult but stick with it; when the sun moves into Scorpio on October 22, you’ll feel the shift that’s at play. If you’re in a long-term relationship, expect wounds to be on their way to healing; if you’re in a casual frisson, expect things to heat up.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Welcome to the month of decision-making, Taurus. If there’s been a big decision you’ve been avoiding making, October is your time to either shape up or ship out. Following the eclipse, Jupiter will head into your second house, which dictates money and your personal finances. Okay, the wider economy at-large might prove challenging, but this is your time to take stock of how you want to make a living, but also how you want to build a life.
Pluto’s retrograde, which began in May, will come to a close on October 11, 2024. This is the perfect time to make sure you’re on the right path and that you make any required changes. Once Pluto plants itself firmly in Aquarius, your next chapter can finally begin.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
This month’s eclipse, which will impact your fifth house (which dictates pleasure), may cause any lingering suspicions or long-buried feelings about a loved one to rise to the surface. Expect difficult questions to not necessarily be answered immediately as you grapple with Jupiter’s retrograde in Gemini, which will force you to face the difficult scenarios you’ve been avoiding so well.
This month’s full moon will take place on October 17, and it will coincide with Venus moving into Sagittarius, which will impact your seventh house of relationships. Take time for yourself; it may well be that October is emotionally tough for you, but remember that without the dark we’d never see the stars.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
The new moon and solar eclipse of October will impact your fourth house this month, Cancer. The fourth house is about our families – chosen and otherwise – and our home environments, so prepare to hunker down and really make your place a home, whether that’s spiritually or physically.
That’s not all; if there is a special somebody on the scene, Mercury will enter Scorpio on October 13 for Cancer, which will activate your fifth house of romance, so prepare to express yourself and explore your deepest and darkest desires.
Leo (July 23-August 22)
This month is the perfect opportunity for you to lean into any teachings you may have been trying to embrace about communication, as the Libra new moon mixed with the solar eclipse (which will activate your third house of the communication) is poised to challenge you in this area.
But all is not lost; once you’ve mastered the art of communicating effectively, you’ll find that Venus is moving into your fifth house of pleasure, and that can only mean one thing; love and lust and plenty of it. Just don’t forget to be honest and open about your feelings too, this month requires both from you.
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
The beauty of this month is that, while September might have seemed bleak and as though nothing good could or would ever happen for you, October has a much perkier outlook. In fact, this month, the solar eclipse will bring with it something wildly unexpected for you, just remember to keep your mind open to what the universe might have up her sleeve.
This new opening may well have a little something to do with Jupiter, the planet of expansion, going into retrograde in your tenth house, which will challenge you to redefine what success means to you.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Pluto is set to cause all kinds of havoc this month, but none more-so than for you, Libra. Before the planet of transformation, Pluto, finally ends its retrograde, it will momentarily dip back into Capricorn, before moving into Aquarius and staying there until 2043. Its brief reentry into Capricorn is an chance for you to bid adieu to the chapter that’s closed itself to you. Let this month be a sign for you to move on in peace and harmony.
The full moon on October 17 will also have ramifications on your relationships, so don’t forget to rest and recuperate.
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Happy solar return, dear Scorpio! As you head into your birthday month, don’t be surprised if you feel a little overwhelmed; the solar eclipse will impact your twelfth house of dreams and emotions, which may inform why this month you suddenly feel like you’re wading through every feeling you’ve ever had.
But don’t worry, if there’s something that you’ve been worrying about or fearing, when transformative Pluto retrogrades in Capricorn, you’ll have a chance to finally say goodbye to the chapter of your life you’re turning your back on. Just be patient, it’s all unfurling the way it’s supposed to.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
Expect October to teach you a thing or two about the heart; if it’s not your ruling planet, Jupiter, retrograding in your romantic seventh house – which will force you to reevaluate the way you approach love.
The divine messenger Mercury moves into your twelfth house on October 13 though, which will open up your vision. If you’ve been struggling to see clearly, this is your chance to really take it all in. And, as if that wasn’t enough, Venus also moves into your sign, blessing your love life, on the same day as there’s a full moon affecting your fifth house of pleasure. October is looking hot and heavy for few other than you, Sag.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Eclipses can be times of emotional struggle, particularly for you, so make sure that you’re prioritising pleasure and rest as much as you can alongside the explosion of fun that October promises.
Jupiter’s retrograde this month will impact your sixth house of health, which may well force you to examine your work/life balance. We all know how much a Capricorn loves to work, but this is a time to really probe deeper. Ask yourself what it is that you want from a job, and whether your current situation is providing you with that. If the answer is no, it’s time to seek another door to prise open.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
If September was the month of choosing joy, then this is the month where you truly prioritise that happiness in all that you do. Jupiter’s retrograde in your fifth house of creativity and romance will ask that you slow down and reflect on how you express joy and passion, while Mercury in Scorpio mid-month will intensify any conversations you’re having about work and dreams. Remember that if you dream it, you can do it.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20)
Romance is on the horizon for you, dear Pisces. Just look at everything that’s coming your way in October; when Jupiter begins its retrograde, it will predominantly impact your fourth house of home and family before Mercury challenges your introspective skills as it moves into your philosophical ninth house. There is romance and answers aplenty ahead, just remember to also prioritise resting and taking care of yourself to maintain a semblance of balance.
