UK weather: Flights diverted and cancelled as snow hits airports
A number of UK airports – including Manchester and Liverpool – have closed their runways due heavy snow overnight causing delays, cancellations and diversions.
All incoming flights have been diverted away from Manchester Airport due to being unable to land, a spokesman told the BBC.
“Nothing is landing at the moment – the last plane to land was a TUI flight from Cancun at about 0600,” he said.
At least 12 Manchester-bound planes have had to land at London Heathrow, Birmingham, Dublin, Glasgow and Paris, according to tracking website Flightradar24.
Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport said teams are “working hard” to clear its runway, while flights to and from Leeds Bradford Airport have been cancelled or delayed.
