Two London theatres are officially the UK’s best new attractions for 2025, according to Time Out

Exciting news: we’ve just dropped our list of the 25 best new things to do in 2025. That means we can reveal our official selection for the best new attraction in the UK that’s opening next year – and, excitingly, it’s right here in London.

Drumroll, please… this year it’s a joint winner, with two London theatres taking the prize for the best thing to do in 2025. The new Sadler’s Wells East in Stratford, and Soho Theatre in Walthamstow are the ones to visit in the new year.

Sadler’s Wells East opens on February 6 and is one for dance fans to get excited about: the high-tech, 550-cap dance theatre, with fully retractable seats, will stage more experimental contemporary works than the OG Sadler’s in Islington; their season kicks off with Vicki Igbokwe-Ozoagu’s blowout, which will transform the new space into a nightclub and use young dancers from east London in the performance.

The following months will see more community-based work and London choreographers, and major UK talent, such as Carlos Acosta’s Birmingham Royal Ballet. In April, Mette Ingvartsen’s ‘Skatepark’ (Apr 10-12), a pounding mix of skateboarding and dance, looks particularly fun.

Then, over in Walthamstow, the legends at Soho Theatre will take over the former EMD Cinema. They haven’t revealed too much yet, but its slated to open in ‘early 2025’, with a programme that’s likely to be stacked with cabaret, comedy and plays.

Time Out’s theatre critic Andrzej Lukowski said: ‘Both venues look pretty cool, and because they both do something unique it’s great they’re doubling in capacity. As for Sadler’s, London’s capacity for interesting international dance has effectively doubled, which is pretty remarkable.’
