Transfer news LIVE: Emery wants TWO Chelsea stars after Jhon Duran move ‘agreed’

Thiago and Toney twist

Brentford have been left sweating over Igor Thiago’s knee injury which may complicate plans to sell Ivan Toney.

Thiago joined the Bees for a record £30million this summer from Club Brugge with a view to being Toney’s replacement.

But the centre-forward hurt his meniscus during a 5-2 win over Wimbledon on Saturday, despite scoring twice.

The Brazilian will have further scans next week to determine the extent of the damage, which may sideline him for up to six months.

Should scans reveal it to be the worst-case scenario, that could have an impact on Toney’s future as Brentford might have to keep him even though his deal runs out in a year.

Cristiano Ronaldo transfer hint?

Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has sent football fans into a frenzy after supporters spotted a crazy detail in an Instagram post that they thought was a transfer hint.

In a recent summer holiday post to his story, Ronaldo shared a pic of him sitting down after participating in a padel match.

Some eagle-eyed fans spotted the seemingly minor detail of a hat with a Sporting Lisbon logo featuring on a table next to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

The Manchester United legend played for Sporting at the start of his career before moving to Old Trafford in 2003, and this led to some fans being convinced it was a hint towards his next club.

Ten Hag again calls for bigger squad

Erik ten Hag claims his “vulnerable” Manchester United squad needs reinforcement.

The Dutchman believes United can now “beat anyone” – thanks to new boys Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee.

But Ten Hag fears injuries would change all that.

He said: “I want the squad as strong as possible.

“We already made two very good buys, so when everyone is fit we have a team that can beat everyone.

“But when we have injuries, we are vulnerable.

“We are looking in all the positions to reinforce. We need a plan with the squad to make sure we are occupied in every area.

“With squad depth, we need to catch up because last season we had injuries. This season will be survival of the fittest.”

Fab deal still far off

Talk of Arsenal launching an offer for stand-out Spain star Fabian Ruiz has soared.

And it’s suggested the Gunners would favour borrowing the PSG midfielder for a season with an obligation to buy.

It’s also claimed Arsenal have held preliminary talks over recruiting the 28-year-old.

But reportedly no formal approach has been made.

Ruiz notched two goals and two assists as Spain won the Euros.
