What are the Twelve Apostles?

The Twelve Apostles are 12 prehistoric standing stones that form a circle.

Friends of Ilkley Moor adds: “They are believed to date back to the Bronze Age (2000BC) but unfortunately they have been moved about quite a bit in the last century.

“Even so they still attract quite a lot of speculation from different faiths, cults and religions.”

Another Yorkshire-based festive stroll included in the best-named list was Scout Dike Reservoir, in Thurlstone (Barnsley), South Yorkshire.
