The UK’s ‘best places to live’ unveiled – and one boasts houses for just £202k
The UK’s “best places to live” have been revealed, and one has the lowest crime rates in London.
The Times has published its annual list of the top spots in England to live using data including local Ofsted ratings, NHS waiting times, green spaces and average house price.
Richmond in west London took the top spot, with an 80% GP satisfaction rate and the lowest crime rate in London. It has an average house price of £748,000, 48% higher than the London average.
Cheltenham, a Regency town in Gloucestershire, took second spot. It has an average house price of £342,000 and some of the lowest NHS waiting times in England.
In third and four places are Stroud and Merton, with average house prices of £339,000 and £579,000 respectively.
Ribble Valley in Lancashire came in fifth and was the regional winner for the northwest. It has the second-lowest crime rate in the country and an average house price of £274,000.
Meanwhile, boasting houses with a price tag of just £202,521, Chorley in Lancashire took ninth place.
The Times named Na h-Eileanan Siar the best place to live in Scotland. The Orkney Islands and Shetland Islands came in second and third.
The Welsh winner was the local authority of Ceredigion. In Northern Ireland, Fermanagh and Omagh came out on top.
