Snow and ice on way for UK after flooding over New Year

Snow and ice are on the way over the next few days for parts of the UK.

The Met Office – which monitors the UK’s weather – has issued a yellow weather warning for snow for all of England, Wales and parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

This means there is a risk that schools might be closed, some homes might have power cuts, and getting about by car or train could be difficult.

The snow warning starts from around midday on Saturday 4 January, until 09:00AM on Monday 6 January.

About 5cm of snow is expected across the Midlands, Wales and northern England, and as much as 20-30cm in parts of Wales and the Pennines.
