Sky News wins prestigious award for digital output

Sky News has scooped a prestigious gong at the Broadcast Digital Awards.

On Wednesday night, Sky News won the award for best digital support for a strand, channel or genre at the ceremony in central London.

Sky News was up against the likes of Comedy Central, the Eurovision Song Contest and Glastonbury, which were also shortlisted.

The awards celebrate the UK’s top digital content, creators and channels, with judges from across the industry.

Each panel of judges is chaired by a member of the editorial team from the awards show.

After debating the merits of each contender, a secret ballot takes place to determine the winner.

Sky News was also up for channel of the year, while Sky News’s Stuart Ramsay’s award-winning coverage in documentary The Last Hospital: 30 Days In Myanmar was also shortlisted for best current affairs programme.
