Person dies after being hit by train at Eden Park station

A casualty on the tracks was reported in Upper Elmers End Road just before 8.50am today (September 9).

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the person was pronounced dead shortly after.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

All lines between Elmers End and Hayes have been closed as the incident is being dealt with.

Disruption is expected between those stations until 12pm.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Eden Park railway station at around 8.49am today (9 September) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The full statement from Southeastern says: “A person has been hit by a train between Elmers End and Hayes (Kent), resulting in all lines being closed.

“As a result, trains will be cancelled or revised. This is expected until 12:00.”
