Pembrokeshire beach named as one of the UK’s top-rated

Marloes Sands Beach was ranked fourth in a new study that looked at Tripadvisor reviews.

The study, carried out by QR Code Generator, only considered beaches with four stars or higher.

The rankings were based on the percentage of five-star reviews compared to the total number of reviews.

Out of 261 reviews, 231 rated Marloes Sands Beach as five stars, giving it an 88.51 per cent five-star review rate.

The study described the beach as having ‘dramatic coastal scenery and vast golden sands’ and said it was ‘surrounded by wildlife and ancient history.’

It is located southwest of the village of Marloes and looks out onto Skokholm Island.

The only other Welsh beach to feature in the top 10 was Rhossili Bay, which came ninth with 86.69 per cent of reviews being five stars.

This means that 1,700 out of 1,961 people rated it as five stars.

Scotland dominated the list, with four highly rated beaches in the top 10.

Luskentyre Beach in Harris, Scotland, came first with 93.79 per cent of reviews (1,072 out of 1,143) rating it five stars.

Scarista Beach in Harris, Scotland, ranked second with 90.50 per cent of reviews (200 out of 221) rating it five stars.

Less than six miles from Luskentyre Beach, it is rated as the best place to visit on the Isle of Harris.

Camusdarach Beach in Morar, Scotland, came third with 88.54 per cent of reviews (309 out of 349) rating it five stars.

Sandwood Bay in Sutherland, Scotland, came fifth with 88.10 per cent of reviews (185 out of 210) rating it five stars.

Other beaches in the top ten include Embleton Bay, Ross Back Sands Beach, St Aidan Beach, and Steve’s Beach.

Marc Porcar, CEO of QR Code Generator, said: “Whilst the UK is known for its many stunning beaches, this study shows that Scotland dominates the top five ranking when it comes to high ratings from visitor reviews.

“It is notable that most of these beaches are in remote locations, which is likely how they remain so picturesque and popular among visitors.

“This means that it may be more difficult to find these hidden beaches than the usual seaside towns, even though it is likely to be worth the effort.”
