New Year latest: Fireworks and celebrations as Brazil is latest to welcome 2025

Happy New Year everyone – welcome to 2025.

Sky News readers have been writing in to tell us how they’re celebrating the moment.

Ryan Brooks, 31, and Rachel Hulson, 26, from Stoke-on-Trent are seeing in the New Year in a Dublin pub.

“Going into 2025, let’s all just be kind,” says Ms Hulson.

Anita Sheahan, 40, from Ireland, has been watching a spectacular firework display in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin.

“Wishing the world a very happy and peaceful New Year from Ireland,” she says.

It’s baby Guinness shots for Nathan Molloy, 23, from Manchester, who is celebrating in the Elizabethan in Stockport with his girlfriend Amy Whadcock and friends Thomas Rich and Isabelle Wheeler.

“2025 is going to be one hell of a year – happy New Year UK we love you all.”

Friends Eddie Irani, 51, from Chelsea, and Jodie Charascina, 50, from Faversham, are spending New Year’s on Copacabana beach in Brazil.

“Wishing everyone a spectacular start to the new year,” says Mr Irani.

Back in the UK, John Bartlett, 55, isn’t just celebrating the New Year – he was born at one minute past midnight, 1 January 1970.

He’s with his wife Lisa and youngest daughter, Rebecca, 24, watching Jools Holland’s Hootenanny and video calling their oldest daughter, Laura.

“Wish everyone a happy and healthy 2025,” he says.

It’s also a cosy one for Jacob Moore, 29, and his girlfriend Oliva, from New Mills, Derbyshire, who are watching some reality TV.

“Wishing everyone a happy New Year, may you find happiness in the little things and strength in every challenge,” says Mr Moore.
