N-E lettings agency rounds off 2024 on awards high – Aberdeen Business News
The team at estate and lettings agency Northwood North East has many reasons to celebrate as the year comes to a close after a bumper few weeks of awards and recognition.
Owner and director Laura Mearns was last month presented with a Highly Commended certificate at the BWCAberdeen Athena Awards after being nominated in the Inspirational Woman of the Year category.
The award showcases creative talent and celebrates women who have made an outstanding impact on the business landscape in Scotland.
Just days later, the family-run business was one of more than 70 local organisations shortlisted across 15 categories in the Northern Star Business Awards. A finalist in the Staff Matters award, the firm will compete against four other nominees at the ceremony next April.
And last week, Northwood UK scooped top accolades in four categories at the UK’s top industry awards – the allAgent Awards 2024 – which celebrate the achievements of estate and lettings agencies throughout the UK based on customer reviews.
Northwood North East also received two Silver awards – Sales in Aberdeen and Sales in AB25 – which were picked up by Inverurie branch manager Juliet Livingstone at the event in Glasgow. Both awards are testament to the continued growth of Northwood’s bespoke estate agency brand.
Set up in 2009 by Laura Mearns and her husband Steven, Northwood North East currently has offices in Aberdeen’s Rosemount and Inverurie High Street, as well as a third branch at 57 High Street, Banchory, which opened earlier this year.
The past 15 years have seen Northwood acquire a rapidly expanding portfolio of properties on its books and an annual turnover of £950,000. The aim this year is to exceed £1million turnover.
Laura said the success of the past few weeks has been the icing on the cake for the team after “a busy but fantastic year”.
She said: “The past 12 months has been all about celebrating Northwood North East’s 15th anniversary, which we have done by supporting 15 organisations and charities throughout the City and Shire. We have also raised more than £7,500 for our three chosen local charities, Banchory-based Forget-Me-Not, Aberdeen Amateur Athletics Club and Friends of Anchor.
“The recognition we have received in the past few weeks is testament to all the hard work and dedication shown by the team over the past year. I’m very proud of all they have achieved this year.”
