Most dangerous London Underground station named with two crime types top of list

It’s important to remain vigilant when travelling around London, especially when making your way through one of the capital’s busy tube stations.

Crimes such as pickpocketing, anti-social behaviour, and violent and sexual offences have been recorded throughout the tube network.

Digital PR Lab has revealed the most dangerous Tube stations in London using crime data, looking at all the crimes reported within each station area from January 2024.

Kings Cross comes in at number five, with 120 crimes recorded in the month and London Bridge follows at number four with 136. Worryingly, violence and sexual offences were the dominant crime types at London Bridge, while King’s Cross had more anti-social behavior-related crimes reported.

Third on the list is Victoria Station, with 157 reported crimes, which is also unfortunately led by cases of Violence and sexual offences, with 46 incidents. It’s not surprising that all of the stations also rank highly as some of London’s busiest stations.

Liverpool Street is the second most dangerous station, with 227 reported crimes, and 57 of them were recorded as being anti-social behaviour. Last year this station was revealed to be London’s busiest, knocking Waterloo off the top spot.

The most dangerous station is Paddington, with a total of 232 incidents. Most of the crimes reported were violent and sexual offences, with 68 reported cases. Located in West London, Paddington station serves three tube lines while also being the main hub of Great Western Rail in the city.

Other stations in the list but not in the top five include Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Circus, Baker Street, Waterloo, and Westminster.

The findings are a stark reminder of how important it is to take extra precautions when travelling around London. While the majority of people travelling around London every day will not be faced with crime, the report highlights the potential dangers tube stations can pose.

Earlier this year, it was reported that pickpocketing on London’s Tubes had soared by a staggering 83 percent.

Safety for women on public transport in the UK has also become more of an issue in recent years. In December 2023, 37-year-old Ryan Johnstone was jailed for sexually assaulting and raping a 20-year-old woman on a Piccadilly train.

Violent attacks on women on trains throughout the UK have doubled in the last two years according to British Transport Police.
