‘As I was saying…’: Trump references assassination attempt on return to Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday evening

Donald Trump has launched a bigoted attack on migrants claiming they are predisposed to committing violent crimes because of “their genes” during an interview with Hugh Hewitt.

There are increasing concerns about Trump’s age and ability to serve a four-year term given his increasingly rambling and angry speeches. The 78-year-old former president’s gaffes and misstatements now occur to such a degree that they no longer appear to garner much attention.

Meanwhile, non-binary TV star Jonathan Van Ness says finding that they appear in a pro-Trump ad that attacks Kamala Harris is “surreal” and “upsetting”, warning their followers of the threat of “white nationalist christian politicians” to society.

Vice President Kamala Harris is continuing her media blitz this week, after touring storm-hit Georgia and North Carolina, and making an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, during which she attacked Trump’s running mate JD Vance over his notorious “childless cat ladies” comment.

The Democratic Party nominee will appear on 60 Minuteson Monday night, as well as ABC’s The View, Howard Stern’s radio show, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Her running mate Tim Walz also visits Trump nemesis Jimmy Kimmel on Monday.

MAGA superintendent says he was fired for promoting Kirk Cameron book fair featuring ‘anti-woke’ titles

The vociferously anti-LGBTQ superintendent of a Virginia public school district claims he was fired not for a lack of qualifications or his bigoted online activity, but for joining with former child star-turned-ultra-conservative evangelical activist Kirk Cameron in a campaign to sideline secular children’s titles by Scholastic, the world’s largest publisher of children’s books, in favor of Christian-themed books that “reinforce biblically-based, foundational values.”

Trump continues to attempt to politicize hurricane response

At odds with officials of both parties on the ground in the impacted states, Donald Trump continues to attack response to Hurricane Helene in attempt to politicize disaster.

He posted on Truth Social:

THE RESPONSE TO THE HURRICANE BY LYIN’ KAMALA HARRIS IS NOW RATED THE WORST STORM RESPONSE IN HISTORY. NORTH CAROLINA, GEORGIA, FLORIDA, SOUTH CAROLINA, TENNESSEE, ALABAMA, and others, will respond by VOTING FOR “TRUMP.” We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Turning Point wants to revolutionize how Republicans turn out voters. Some are skeptical

Turning Point’s representatives have made two things clear in meetings with state and local Republican leaders— Donald Trump has blessed their conservative organization to help lead his get-out-the-vote effort, and local party officials ought to use the group’s new voter mobilization app.

Jonathan Van Ness, co-host of Queer Eye, has said it is “surreal” to see themself in a Trump campaign TV ad attacking Kamala Harris and “they/them” pronouns, describing it as “unsettling”.

Van Ness came out as nonbinary in 2019 and is seen in the ad chatting with Harris.

A narrator says, “Crazy liberal Kamala is for they/them. President Trump is for you.”

Van Ness wrote on Instagram: “I saw myself in a Trump TV ad today and it’s… surreal. Kind of iconic, but mostly very unsettling.”

“In this commercial Trump vilifies immigrants, trans people, and queer people generally. History shows us that blaming specific groups of people and attempting to get a majority of society to view them as threat rather than humans is what can come just before an ultra conservative and or religious governments taking over their society.

“Don’t think that these white nationalist christian politicians aren’t a threat to you & Vote like that.”

They continued in the comments: “As a non binary person whenever I’m presented with a binary choice I’m immediately leery. 💁🏻😂 But in this election its really about moving forward in all the messy imperfection and trying to trust each other again, or its about going backwards to a time where women needed their husband or father’s permission to open a checking account and where segregation was also a matter of ‘states rights’ mixed in with an authoritarian dictator who has absolute immunity from the Supreme court. Please choose hope over fear. Faith over blame. Love y’all 🫶”

Trump joined by Ben Shapiro in marking anniversary of October 7

In marking the first anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attack in Israel, Donald Trump was joined in New York today by conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro.

Shapiro tweeted: “October 7 was the greatest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. It was an honor to join President Trump in NY today to pay our respects and remember the lives lost in the horrific terrorist attack one year ago today.

“I had the additional honor of being accompanied by Yael, Adi, and Roy Alexander whose son and brother, Edan, an American citizen, is still held captive by Hamas. Today and every day we pray for the swift return of all the hostages and a victory over those who sponsored and perpetrated October 7.”
