Hackney Flea Market is voted UK’s best secondhand fashion market
A new study has seen Hackney Flea Market in London being crowned the best secondhand market in the UK with Lewes Flea Market in Sussex emerging as the top choice to find secondhand jewellery.
The rankings are based on assessing the sentiment expressed in reviews for each spot, while a survey of 500 people by South Western Railway provided additional insights.
It found that 69% of Gen Z and 67% of Millennials having made secondhand purchases in the last year.
As mentioned, Hackney was top with a ‘shopping sentiment’ score of 99. It’s open on Sundays and through analysis of Google reviews, it also emerged as the top choice for clothes, books and furniture.
Meanwhile Lewes scored 98. Spanning two floors and open all week, the market showcases “diverse and intricate trinkets, from pottery to garden furniture, visitors can expect to pick up an exciting treasure”.
In third place was Bath Saturday Antique and Flea Market on 96 in one of the UK’s most popular tourist cities.
Department Flea Market in Brighton was fourth on 95, also open all week.
And fifth was Haynes Lane Market in London on 94. Situated next to the Crystal Palace Food Market, it’s open Thursdays to Sundays.
The rest of the top 10 scored between 88 and 93 and included in sixth place Pevensey Bay Boot Sale on the south coast, Great Amwell Car Boot Sale, The Kelham Flea House Clearance in Sheffield, Wood Street Indoor Market in London, and Cardiff Indoor Flea Market.
