14:25 Sandown – Libra Tiger – 1pt @ 12/1

Libra Tiger is limited and not one to place full trust in, but he has some ability and won over C&D last July when rated 3lbs higher. Coming back to this track could spark him into life again and he wasn’t far away on his penultimate start, beaten a half-length into fourth at Lingfield.

That was back in May and his sole run since, almost two months ago, was poor. However, he has had time to find form again at home and won when fresh before. This should set up to suit and dropping back to the minimum trip on this track can help to see him in a better light.

15:15 Thirsk – Ventura Express – 1pt @ 10/1

Ventura Express has been as good as ever this season, that despite being an exposed 7-year-old, and I wouldn’t be shocked were he to win again soon. He certainly seemed in form at Chepstow last time when third despite plenty going wrong, mainly where he raced on the track.

Returning to faster ground will be a help to him as well and the track shouldn’t be a problem. It’ll require a new career peak to win and whilst it’s hard to be definite about whether he’s capable of defying 89, 10/1 about him doing it in this field seems generous to me.
