Five Pembrokeshire beaches named among the UK’s top 50

Marloes Sands Beach, Barafundle Bay Beach, Broad Haven South Beach, Freshwater West, and Tenby North Beach were all named as among the best beaches across Britain, according to the study.

Tripadvisor reviews were analysed by QR Code Generator to find the highest-rated beaches in the UK, with beaches rated as four stars or higher and with at least 200 reviews being ranked based on the percentage of five-star reviews compared to the total number of reviews. 

Marloes Sands Beach was ranked as the highest rated beach in Wales, and fourth overall, with 88.51 per cent of reviews (231 out of 261) rating it five stars.

The beach has dramatic coastal scenery and vast golden sands, and is surrounded by wildlife and ancient history. It is located southwest of the village of Marloes and looks out onto Skokholm Island.

Barafundle Bay (14th) and Broad Haven South (18th) also cracked the top 20, with 85.77 per cent (1,013 out of 1,181) and 84.5 per cent (289 out of 342) of reviews being five stars respectively.

Freshwater West was ranked 40th after 182 out of 230 reviews (79.13 per cent) were five stars, whilst Tenby’s North Beach also made the list at 49, with 164 five star reviews out of 211 (77.73 per cent).

The nearby Mwnt Beach, just north of Cardigan, was also included on the list, placing at 29 with 81.15 per cent five star reviews (805 out of 992). 

Luskentyre Beach in Harris, Scotland, came first in the study with 93.79 per cent of reviews (1,072 out of 1,143) rating it five stars.

The beach, found on the west coast of South Harris in the Outer Hebrides, boasts white sands, blue-green waters, and was named one of the UK’s best beaches in the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.
