England through to knockout stage

At the end of the group stage matches, the top two teams from each group go through to the knockout stage, along with the four best third-placed finishers.

If a team finishes third, whether they qualify to the knockout stages will be decided on things like points, goal difference (that’s the difference between the number of goals scored for and against) and the amount of goals they have scored.

England’s results so far in the tournament mean they cannot finish lower than third in Group C.

Albania’s loss to Spain means that England will be, at least, one of the four best third-placed finishers and qualify for the last 16 of Euro 2024.
