Dundee’s Ashton McGill shortlisted for top UK accountancy award
Dundee-based accountancy firm Ashton McGill has been shortlisted for the Employer of the Year (Small Company) award in the UK’s most esteemed accountancy awards.
The firm which is founded by father and son Alasdair and Andrew McGill, and now has a headcount of 14, is one of five Scottish businesses to earn its place in the finals of the Accounting Excellence Awards at London’s Roundhouse on 8 October.
The awards have been shining a light on the best of the accounting profession since 2006 by recognising the achievements of accounting firms, individuals, teams and projects in the sector across the UK.
Andrew McGill, commercial director, said: “We are honoured to be shortlisted for the Employer of the Year category in the Accounting Excellence Awards.
“These are the most prestigious awards for the accounting profession and reaching the finals reflects the extent to which we value our team and their development.
“Ashton McGill aims to be a catalyst for growth, understanding what drives people and placing a strong emphasis on training and development. We are passionate about training the next generation of accountants differently to how accountants are traditionally trained, as we know that customer service skills are just as important as numeracy skills.
“We have a great culture which brings out the best in all of us and the team are very much looking forward to attending the awards ceremony in London.”
The Accounting Excellence Awards received a record number of entries this year, making the finalist status even harder to attain. Additionally, Ashton McGill has been shortlisted in the Small Business category in The Courier Business Awards which also take place in October.
The business previously won the ‘Small Firm of the Year’ category in the 2020 Xero Awards.
