Cornwall forest with ‘secret glades’ among best UK spots to see autumn colours

Cardinham Woods was included alongside 26 other places in a list from Country Living.

Discussing the creation of the list, the publication wrote: “Autumn is alive with a breathtaking palette of golden colours, brilliant blue skies and a crisp chill in the air.

“Wherever you live in the UK, it’s the perfect time to slip on your walking boots and soak up all the season has to offer.



“To help you find the best spots to visit, we’ve rounded up the wonderful places in the UK to see the blazing colours of autumn in 2024.”

What was said about Cardinham Woods?

Cardinham Woods was praised for its “diverse woodland” as well as features such as “secret glades” and “stream-side paths”.

Additionally, it is recommended to explore the woods while cycling to help take in the autumn colours and viewpoints.

They wrote: “Lace up your walking boots this autumn and head to Cardinham Woods in Cornwall.

One person wrote: “Excellent place to explore. We took our dog and did one of the walks that was clearly marked on the map. The sign posting to keep you on track was fantastic.”

Another shared: “We spent about four hours in total here, walking a couple of the well signposted trails. Once away from the cafe and car park we were often completely on our own, with only the birds, and a slow worm, for company.”

Meanwhile, another posted: “Great location for walks with or without a dog. Several well laid out trails through the woods. There is even a mobility scooter for hire should you need one. Decent toilets and there is even a dog washing facility.”
