Awkward moment Tom Cruise almost gets into Rishi Sunak’s car by mistake at London heliport

Hollywood legend Tom Cruise almost accidentally ended up in Rishi Sunak‘s car after a mix-up at a heliport in London.

The Top Gun actor could be seen waving to adoring fans as he strode out on to the car park at London Heliport in Battersea.

Cruise, wearing a light grey polo shirt and black trousers, attempts to yank open the door of the black Audi before realising it is the wrong vehicle.

The Hollywood star, who has been spending time in London filming the latest instalment of the Mission Impossible series, then walks awkwardly to the right car while one of his entourage ushers him in.

Later on, Mr Sunak was spotted leaving the heliport and getting into the same vehicle that Cruise had previously darted towards.

Unlike Cruise, the Prime Minister makes no mistake and finds the correct car, while an aide holds the door open for him.

Wearing a white shirt underneath a black quarter-zip jumper, while carrying a rucksack, the Tory party leader jumps into the back seat of the Audi while his assistants load up the car.

The Prime Minister had taken the sleeper train to the South West, arriving in Penzance in the morning.

He then returned to London by helicopter later that evening, arriving at the heliport in Battersea.

No 10 declined to comment on the incident.

As for Cruise, the Golden Globe-winning actor, 61, has in London recently for the shooting of the eighth film in the Mission Impossible franchise.

Last month, he was seen good spirits as he touched down in London after flying himself there in his helicopter.

Cruise, who has held a pilot’s licence since 1994 and owns several planes, was seen in the cockpit, alongside a secondary pilot, as he landed at London Helipad.

He had flown from Longcross film studios in Surrey where he is filming the eighth Mission Impossible movie which will see him return as agent Ethan Hunt.

The seventh film, Dead Reckoning Part One came out last year. However, production on the second instalment was delayed because of the Hollywood writers’ strike.

It is not the only UK location where the American star has been spotted.

In March, he was seen filming in Derbyshire alongside Simon Pegg and Hayley Atwell.

The Mission: Impossible film series, which launched in 1996, is based on a 1966 television series of the same name.

Along with the action franchise, Cruise is flying back into action in a new Top Gun sequel after the box office hit Maverick, which grossed nearly $1.5billion.

Cruise will return as Captain Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell. Producer Paramount is hoping to reunite him with his recent co-stars Miles Teller and Glen Powell.

The news that Cruise is back in business with Paramount — which has released many of his recent films — comes after he signed up for a deal with Warner Brothers to produce and develop new films.

According to Puck News, Maverick’s co-writer Ehren Kruger is writing a script for the third instalment in the franchise.
