UK weather: Major incidents declared as UK grapples with floods, snow and ice

Cold temperatures are expected for the remainder of the week, bringing the chance of snow showers, ice and frosts to many parts of the UK.

Overnight, wintry showers will pass across Northern Ireland, over the Irish Sea, into Wales and western parts of England.

Frosts will form across southeast England in the early hours of Tuesday morning, while snow-covered parts of northern England and Scotland will see further low and freezing temperatures.

Sunshine is expected in some parts of the UK on Tuesday, but Scotland is likely to see more snow and Northern Ireland and parts of northern England will witness further wintry showers.

Wednesday will bring drier conditions for northern England, while wet conditions across the English channel means the southernmost parts of the country may see several centimetres of snow fall.

Thursday will bring dry, cold conditions leading to a frosty start for many across the country.
