Mohamed Salah has told reporters he is “probably more out than in” as he waits for an offer from Liverpool to keep him at the club.

The talismanic forward’s contract runs out in the summer and he would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club from January.

Salah has said he is “disappointed” by the club’s failure to offer him a new deal but also indicated he would like to extend his seven-year stay with the Reds.

But just what would the Reds be losing if the ‘Egyptian King’ was to leave Anfield?

Simply put – a lot.

Salah is fifth on Liverpool’s all-time record scoring list with 223 goals in 367 games – behind Ian Rush (346), Roger Hunt (285), Gordon Hodgson (241) and Billy Liddell (228).

With his form so far this campaign – he is the club’s top scorer with 12 goals – you would expect him to move higher up that list before the season is out.

The 32-year-old’s numbers since his £34m move from Roma really speak for themselves.

According to Opta, since Salah made his Premier League debut for Liverpool on 12 August 2017, he has made the most appearances in the league for the Reds (262) and is only behind Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford across all clubs.

With his 165 league goals, Salah has scored more than anybody in that time and sits just behind Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne for assists at 74.

His minutes-per-goal ratio of 132 is equivalent to that of former Tottenham striker Harry Kane, while he comes out on top for penalties scored in the league (28) and his four hat-tricks are the most of any other Liverpool player in that time.

Salah’s ability to score the important goals is second to none, having netted the most big chances in the top flight at 122 – 23 more than the next best in Kane.

This season alone, his goals and assists have been worth 17 points to Liverpool – the most of any player in the division.

And to highlight just how well he takes his chances and the quality of those, his expected goals (xG) of 157 in the league since his debut is, once again, the highest of anyone – even if bettered in reality by his total goals scored.

It is hard to see another player replicating these stats for a long time and, in today’s market, the club not having to break the bank to find a replacement.
