East Kilbride Housing Association employee wins top UK award

She was crowned ‘UK Wellbeing Champion of the Year’ at a glittering awards ceremony held in central London. She held off stiff competition from a variety of sectors to bring the title up to Scotland for the first time.

On receipt of the award, Claire said: “It’s not very often I’m lost for words but this is definitely one of those occasions. I was beyond honoured to have been nominated for this award but to go on and actually win it for something I’m so passionate about is an experience I will never forget. Wellbeing is incredibly important to me, and to work for an organisation who values it just as just much as I do is a gift. I couldn’t do what I do without the support and encouragement of my colleagues at EKHA and for that I’m forever grateful.”

EKHA chief executive Andy Young, added: “Claire’s values epitomise what EKHA is all about. The Covid-19 pandemic shone a very bright spotlight on wellbeing issues, but at EKHA we were lucky to have Claire championing the health and wellbeing of staff, Board and tenants years in advance of the pandemic.

“This made us very well prepared for what happened and we came out of it as a very strong organisation. Every single member of our staff and Board team is delighted for Claire and she thoroughly deserves this accolade. We are extremely proud of her. Well done Claire.”
