Walthamstow named as one of UK’s best places to live

Muddy Stilettos has released its list of the top 300 places to live in the UK in 2025.

The list takes a dive into the community, culture and attractions of certain areas, highlighting places to eat and drink, educational opportunities and transport links.

In this year’s edition, Walthamstow has been named as a top “under the radar” town, with the website praising its coffee shops, multi-cultured food spots and wetland walking routes.

Described by Muddy Stilettos as a place “where old meets new”, Walthamstow’s blend of old-build pubs and green space mixes with modern bars and terraced houses.

It offers an array of cultural food restaurants, from Japanese bento boxes to Jamaican jerk chicken alongside a choice of food stalls in the outdoor market.

Muddy Stilettos also singled out the Supperclub Tube, where you can enjoy a Latin-inspired three course meal in a disused dimmed lights atmosphere Tube carriage.

Another point of attraction mentioned is the East of Eden yoga community, which offers more than 100 classes per week.

These classes can be accompanied by a post-class vegan snack courtesy of the Wood Street Indoor Market.

The Willam Morris Gallery was also mentioned as a “Bridgerton-esque former home” which is “packed to the rafters with his designs”.

For nature lovers, fresh walking routes are not hard to come by as Walthamstow Wetlands spans more than 13 miles of reservoirs and rare bird viewing spots.

For families with young children, N Family Club and Wood St Nursery were praised by Muddy Stilettos.

Getting in and out of Walthamstow is no problem either with an “abundance of transport links” thanks to being located at the end of the Victoria line on the London Underground.

A 20-minute ride will land you at Oxford Circus and on the Overground you can be at Liverpool Street station within just 12 minutes.
