Burnetts Solicitors rated among best in the country

Burnetts Solicitors LLP received high praise in the Legal 500 UK Solicitors 2025 rankings, with five of its departments achieving top-tier status.

The departments are corporate, dispute resolution, medical negligence and serious injury, agribusiness, and commercial property.

The Legal 500 rankings are the result of months of rigorous analysis, including thousands of interviews with private practice lawyers and scrutiny of tens of thousands of submissions.

The aim is to highlight the best lawyers and law firms in the UK.

The 2025 rankings saw Burnetts having nine recommended practice areas.

They also had eight of their lawyers listed as leading individuals, two as next-generation partners, and four as leading associates.

This made a total of 14 individuals ranked in the Legal 500.

The corporate team at Burnetts was praised for its M&A capabilities, with one client stating: “The depth and breadth of technical knowledge as well as commercial experience is what sets the Burnetts corporate team apart from their competitors.”

The dispute resolution team was described as “one of the leaders in the field in the area.”

The legal guide said the team had a high standard for contractual and commercial litigation across various sectors, including charities, construction, shareholder disputes, professional negligence claims, and insolvency issues.

Their expertise in contentious trusts and probate work, as well as agribusiness disputes, was also noted.

In the medical negligence and serious injury sector, the team was described as “down-to-earth and approachable.”

They were commended for their experienced litigators, who claimants can trust to guide them through the litigation process.

The commercial property team was also ranked highly, and described as a “great team that cares about their clients.”

The team was praised for its strength in advising on portfolio management, property transactions, and estate development work.

The agribusiness team, led by Joanne McKenzie, was described as having a “can-do attitude.”

They provide advice on structuring agribusinesses, renewable energy projects, dispute resolution, and wills, trusts, and probate issues.

The family team, led by Mark Ward, was described as “very helpful and understanding.”

They handle a range of matters, including financial cases with significant assets and children matters, including cases involving the local authority.

The banking team was noted for its strong track record and was described as “highly deal focused” and “just very good at what they do.”

The employment team was commended for being a “friendly efficient team giving sound advice and support.”

The team advises private and public sector employers and senior executives on all aspects of employment law, with notable expertise in corporate support work.

Nick Gutteridge, managing partner at Burnetts, said: “We have an exceptional team of people who work incredibly hard and genuinely care about our clients and these rankings demonstrate that.

“We have an ethos at Burnetts of ’empowering people to thrive’ and I feel that Legal 500 has recognised that not only do we empower our team to thrive, but this ethos also applies to our clients too.
