US election latest: Trump takes swipe at Walz after VP debate; Melania ‘disagrees’ with Donald on abortion

We’ve already heard from Donald Trump tonight, and his opponent Kamala Harris will speak in about half an hour’s time in a city home to a building known as the “birthplace of the Republican Party”.

As we reported in our 4.49pm post, the vice president is set to hold a campaign rally in Ripon, Wisconsin – a swing state.

Ripon houses the “Republican Schoolhouse”, also known as “Little White Schoolhouse” – the site of the 1854 dissolution of the Whig and Free Soil parties.

Members then formed a new, united party to be called “Republican” in opposition to the Kansas–Nebraska Act made the same year.

In a move to perhaps show off the wide-ranging coalition she has formed since launching her presidential bid, Kamala Harris will be joined by Republican former congresswoman Liz Cheney.

She will start speaking at Ripon College at about 11pm UK time and we’ll be bringing you updates right here.
