GREAT BRITISH NEWS: Top positive news stories from across the UK this week

It’s not all doom and gloom. From honouring wartime heroes to groundbreaking achievements, this week has been one of remarkable milestones across the UK.

NATO forces marked the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem with a spectacular parachute drop, while Teesworks’ Steel River Quay welcomed its first ship, a major boost for the region. In science, Oxford University made a breakthrough in solar energy that could reduce the need for large solar farms.

Meanwhile, the Royal Navy seized £160 million of cocaine from a ‘Narco-Sub’ in the Caribbean, and the UK automotive sector impressed at Automechanika Frankfurt, with over 100 companies representing Britain. The Ministry of Defence awarded a £60 million torpedo contract to BAE Systems, and the King expressed gratitude to Royal Navy submariners and their families.

These stories, along with record numbers of Silver-Studded Blue Butterflies thriving in Dorset and a leading plant hirer placing a £17 million order for JCB machines, showcase a week of British resilience, innovation, and pride.
