For the first time, a Northern Ireland winner has been crowned, having previously been part of a joint Scotland and Northern Ireland competition.

Pubs in the competition are scored on their atmosphere, décor, welcome, service, inclusivity, overall impression, but, most importantly, the quality of cask beer, real cider, and perry.

The 17 pubs will be whittled down to four finalists in September. The pubs are:

  • Bailey Head, Oswestry
  • Bell Inn, Aldworth
  • Black Horse, Preston
